A coven of nannies are coming together to push bills sponsored by Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) that would require mandatory labeling of GE foods. Through e-mail alerts, the groups are urging their members to lobby for the bills, providing members with sample letters to send to Congress. Among those working to restrict choices are the American Corn Growers Association, Center for Food Safety, Citizens For Health, Consumer’s Choice Council, Consumers Union, Friends of the Earth, Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, Mothers for Natural Law, The Natural Law Party, Natural Resources Defense Council, Organic Consumers Association, Sierra Club, Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods, Union of Concerned Scientists, and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.
