Global Exchange’s Kevin Danaher, speaking at an activist teach-in Friday morning, laid out plans for “institutionalizing solidarity” between nannies of all types in order to increase their political power. Danaher said the time was right for a “permanent mobilization” in the form of a “Global Citizen Center” in Washington, D.C. The Center would give all activist groups a common lobbying office in the nation’s capital where they could coalesce their support for “the movement.” Citizen Centers are also being planned for other countries in anticipation of the formation of a “Global Citizen’s Party” which would sponsor political candidates worldwide.
