For the second time in a week, a radical environmental group has come up with a scheme to use government funds to subsidize a tectonic shift in U.S. agriculture, from conventional to organic growing methods. The Environmental Working Group (famous for needlessly scaring the public over pesticide use) has issued a report urging Congress to use taxpayer dollars “to help farmers make the transition to organic farming.” The group also wants Congress to make “environmental stewardship payments… to those who have already made the transition” to organic.
