Wellington New Zealand’s Evening Post reports that scientists are speaking up to set the record straight on the safety of genetically engineered (GE) food. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry scientist Peter Kettle says the scientific community is dismayed “at the lack of understanding and that some people are misrepresenting the facts. It drives us crackers at times. People continue to conjure up imagery, even when they know there is no substance to them.” Kettle compares the exciting advances in genetic engineering to advances in aviation at the end of World War I.
