Near the end of a perfectly innocuous article about restaurant food safety, in pops anti-choice activist Sheldon Rampton to push the organic angle. Rampton has made a living by needlessly scaring the public over mad cow disease and genetically improved food. It’s no wonder he’s pushing organic, considering his organization, the Center for Media & Democracy, receives funding from the Foundation for Deep Ecology, which also happens to fund most of the activist groups promoting organic, including the International Center for Technology Assessment (a.k.a. Center for Food Safety), the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, Jeremy Rifkin’s Foundation on Economic Trends, Mothers & Others, and the Pesticide Action Network.
