Because of the public hysteria over a mad cow disease outbreak and fear of genetically improved foods, stoked in part by the Green Party, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder has created a new super-ministry for food, agriculture and consumer protection. Shockingly, Schroder has given control of it to the Green party. As expected, the Greens have already promised to steer agriculture “back to nature” through the use of organic farming methods, something Schroder himself says can’t possibly provide “enough healthy food at affordable prices.” The German public has become so terrified of their food due to activist fear mongering that the Foreign Minister, a Green party member, declared: “Europeans do not want genetically modified food – period. It does not matter what research shows, they just do not want it…”
