Genetically improved “Golden Rice,” which adds the nutritional benefit of beta carotene (the body turns this into vitamin A), is a perfect example of a biotech product that could show tangible, unimpeachable, life-saving results. It should come as little surprise, then, that some activists are now trying to cast doubts on the product’s viability.
