A coalition of groups including Citizens for the Integrity of Science and the American Council on Science and Health has questioned Starbucks’ decision to dance to the nannies’ tune. In a move described by these groups as “unfounded” and based on misinformation “being spread by the extreme activists,” Starbucks recently agreed to phase out the use of dairy products containing bovine growth hormone. Former surgeon general C. Everett Koop has gone on record stating that attacks on the safety of the U.S. milk supply are “baseless, manipulative, and completely irresponsible.”
