The Indianapolis Star reports that an age-old tradition is under attack. For nearly 70 years, winners of the Indy 500 auto race have celebrated in Victory Lane by drinking a quart of milk. Now, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is demanding that the race switch to “a healthy and humane drink such as soy milk or orange juice.” When asked what he thought of the controversy, past Indy 500 winner Eddie Cheever said: “…if I have the good fortune of winning the 500 again and they give me a bottle of soy milk, I’m going to throw it at them.”
