Fat Taxes And More Government Intrusion

A story in USA Today argues that today’s behavior-oriented health problems can only be solved by creating “change on several levels – the individual, family, community, and society.” On the societal level, Kelly Brownell (our favorite fat-tax advocate) tells USA Today that the best way to combat obesity is with regulation on food ads, along with government taxes and subsidies encouraging healthier foods. “Even taking soda machines out of schools,” he says, is necessary to combat our “toxic food environment.”
