Noted without comment, here is a paragraph from yesterday’s lead editorial in the Omaha World-Herald:
“As for PETA’s claims of farm animal abuse, any farmer with any sense knows that a contented animal, well-fed, protected from the weather, given the minimal comforts required by the species, is an animal that produces best. If chickens were miserable in their cages, they would not lay eggs and the farmer would lose money. Pigs and cows would not reproduce so prolifically if they were not well provided for. The cattle industry wouldn’t flourish. Because a farmer makes his living raising animals doesn’t mean they are deprived or suffering.”
