As reported in yesterday’s morning edition of the French daily Le Figaro, a group of anti-biotech food activists recently vented their outrage by destroying three French farm plots. Unfortunately, however, they didn’t choose their targets very well.
Acting on militant activist Jose Bove’s call for the destruction of biotech crops, the group unwittingly tore up one Monsegur-sur-Lauzon farm that grew no genetically-improved crops at all. More shocking, though, was the group’s demolition of crops at a commune in Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateaux. The targeted plants were being grown as part of a regimen of holistic therapy for a child who has cystic fibrosis. The town’s deputy mayor told Le Figaro: “Unfortunately we have a young girl here in the commune who suffers from this awful disease. She is just appalled.” (no link available)
