CSPI’s Dark Magic

The Center for Science in the Public Interest is putting a hex on Coca-Cola. Spooked by Coke’s sponsorship of the upcoming film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” CSPI is launching a website Wednesday urging children to “Save Harry”
from Coke’s influence. Coke says it just wants to support “the magic of reading” and calls CSPI’s complaint “sensationalism.” Even if there are soda machines at Harry’s wizard school, they may soon do a disappearing act; on the VegSource website, activist/teacher John Borowski denounces soda machines in schools, suggesting they are antidemocratic. Perhaps Harry’s next adventure will have him fighting the curse of the Nanny Culture.
