“Natural” Causes

Mothers for Natural Law (M4NL), working with the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, will “host a series of conferences on organic agriculture in 2002.” Participating will be three-time Natural Law Party (NLP) presidential nominee John Hagelin (who received a whopping 0.08% of the vote in 2000).

What do these groups have in common? They’re all part of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Transcendental Meditation (TM) empire, and they work together to disparage all genetically improved foods. All of these groups are based in Fairfield, Iowa — a Maharishi stonghold run by an NLP mayor — along with dozens of for-profit businesses that rely on the organic foods and “sustainability” movements to make money.
