The nanny culture is bringing about the demise of another American classic: the medium-rare hamburger. Apparently the very real threat of lawsuits is forcing many restaurants to restrict their guests’ choices when it comes to having it their way. Many restaurants, wisely fearful of frivolous lawsuits, are refusing to serve burgers cooked less than “medium.” One restaurant in San Francisco, however, is actually promoting the fact that they’ll serve ’em rare. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Burger Joint is serving so many medium-rare and rare burgers that they are planning to open two more restaurants. You know the nanny culture is changing our nation when a restaurateur gets written up in the Journal for serving meat that’s still pink in the middle.
