How many people think that fat people suing McDonalds is silly? 97%, according to one recent survey. And it turns out that even some trial lawyers aren’t too keen on the idea. Steve K. Hunter, whose firm won two multi-million dollar lawsuits against tobacco companies, calls the effort to sue McDonalds “more of a joke than comparable to tobacco.”
But golden-arches tort-meister John Banzhaf is taking these comments in stride. “I’m used to being called frivolous,” he says. Banzhaf is convinced that the courts will side with his undisciplined-opportunist clients, and now boasts that “you could sue practically anybody under this theory.”
