As animal rights activists gear up for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) infomercial airing tonight on HBO, the Center for Consumer Freedom is helping Alec Baldwin, Alicia Silverstone, Bill Maher, Steve-O, and the rest of Hollywood’s glitterati put PETA in perspective. Our latest full-page advertisement appears in this morning’s edition of Variety, the bible of the entertainment biz. The message? PETA kills animals. By the thousands.
USA Today helpfully points out today that PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk, the subject of tonight’s HBO premiere, “believes animals shouldn’t be used for research, apparel or even pets” [emphasis added]. That just might explain the 14,000-plus dogs and cats that have perished at the business end of a PETA needle since 1998.
By all means, tune in to HBO tonight to see “I Am an Animal: The Story of Ingrid Newkirk and PETA.” Remind everyone watching with you just what a hypocrite Newkirk is. And then check back with us tomorrow for a recap of the action.
